Dean Hetherington v. City of Seattle

Description:
Defendant City of Seattle failed to ensure that proper shoring techniques were used during the trenching phase of a pipeline project. While working in the trench it collapsed causing steel plate to partially sever the plaintiff's forearm. Plaintiff was no longer able to work following the re-attachment of his arm.
Johnson v. (Confidential) Trucking Company

Description:
Client hit broadside by commercial vehicle. Sustained bilateral skull fractures and traumatic brain injury among other numerous complicating injuries. Client spent 93 days in ICU and rehab before being discharged from the hospital. Client is no longer able to work in the technical industry where he was previously employed.
Estate of Jared Carter v. Cutting Edge Tree Service

Outcome: Verdict for $381,000
Description:
Temporary worker, Jared Carter, with no experience or training was sent to a worksite where logging operations were being conducted. Mr. Carter was working in an area of thick brush in close proximity to a tree that the owner of the company intended to fall. The owner of the company cut down the tree without making sure there was a clear area and the tree stuck and killed Jared Carter. Mr. Carter was a young man with no wife and no children so under Washington law the recovery was limited to the economic damages to his estate.
Shirley Murphy v. Joy McWillis
Practice Area: Motor Vehicle Collisions
Outcome: Settlement for $280,000.00
Description:
Ms. Murphy was the passenger in a vehicle that was struck broadside when the at-fault driver failed to stop for a stop sign. Mr. Murphy suffered injury to her neck and low back ultimately requiring a cervical fusion surgery and a lumbar fusion surgery from which she has made an excellent recovery.
Metcalf v. E.T. Browne Drug Co.

Description:
Ms. Metcalf purchased a hair moisturizing product from the defendant and applied it to her hair in accordance with the instructions on the product. The product did not contain any warnings indicating that the product was flammable. Ms. Metcalf went to light a cigarette and her hair erupted in flames causing her significant burns to her scalp and ears. Subsequent testing revealed that the product was highly flammable and investigation revealed that similar products contained warnings regarding flammability.
Mason v. Brandt

Description:
Ms. Mason was stopped a light when he was struck from the rear by the defendant. This was a significant impact which caused injury to his neck, mid-back and low back. Ms. Mason worked in the construction industry and was unable to work for a period of time due to his injuries.
Rush v. Tacoma Yellow Cab

Description:
Mr. Rush was struck from the rear by a taxi cab while in stop and go traffic on the freeway. He suffered injury to his neck which ultimately required a cervical fusion surgery. He made an excellent recovery from the surgery and had little to no residual problems.
